Dispatch Draft 2 | Putting Feedback Into Motion

Changes Made
Using the feedback of my class, I've cut the trailer down to 33 seconds rather than 1minute 30seconds, this is closer to a teaser trailer than a normal trailer, but with still some shots to add I'm hoping it doesn't increase the time too much
I cut the scene of me walking down the drive, and the wider angle of Chris walking to the door, I also cut out framed shot through the bannisters of me running out. I also added black fading in and out between each scene, this is to stop too quick a change of shots, and also the music will be edited around these fades for a more dramatic effect
Finally I removed all sound, since all the shots of me talking have been removed and all that was left was background noise from around the house, so in the near future I'll foley sounds to stop the trailer being dead silent apart from the music
Feedback on Draft 2
Everyone agreed that the pace was quicker like a teaser trailer, and thought that fades of black split up the scenes very well, but I could experiment around with the speed of these fades by testing them longer and shorter.
A major point a few people made was that I should include some of the scenes I had removed, such as the walking down the drive and bannister shot, but just little snippets for variety of shots, Max suggested uses of jump shots to keep the same shot while keeping the trailer moving as quick as the rest
Changes to Make
I'm going to be adding in the scenes I removed, I'm going to mess around with jump cuts for each shot and test timings, as long as I can keep is below 45 seconds including these shots then that will be fine. I still need to add the running shots after this house scene.
For the bannister shot, I'm going to re-film it as well as add it back in, the shot will be through the bannisters rather than across the top of them. This will create better framing and a longer shot of me running across, it'll also open up the possibility of cutting into the drone shot then leading on to other shots.
Finally I'll be playing around with the length of the dark fades to see if I can cut down the time in order to fit more variety of shots in

Disptach Draft 1 | Feedback From Class

Viewing
I shared my first draft with a few different people viewing it, this draft only includes my first section with Chris discovering Jake dead, and includes no sounds because I haven't had time to foley or adjust and sounds.
Feedback
Overall they said the lighting and setting was fine (with the addition of one continuity error which can be edited around) but everyone's main criticism was that it was too much like a longer narrative for a teaser trailer.
Changes to Make
With this feedback I've decided on a new editing technique, using shorter bursts of the clips with fades in and out of black screens, meaning the narrative will move along quicker and be less like a short film. The scene which I will have to have in full will be when Chris answers the phone to the mysterious man and is told to run. A possibility would be to re-film the scene and make is possible for the scene to be edited the same as the other clips used.

Filming | Destroying My House

After some nagging and a bit of bribing, I was able to convince my Mum to let me mess up the house. Although I wasn't able to smash anything or have a long enough time frame to plan how I was going to make it look messy, having is moved/flipped around set the scene better than a neatly set out house. I took some snapchat pictures while filming and decided to include these to show a bit of a different angle to the mess of the house

Ancillary Task | Testing Moving Shots

Photo's While Moving
For my ancillary task I want to take pictures of me in action, to crop, and drop onto the same pictures to make it seem as I'm parkouring across the tree. I was originally going to just stop, pose and take the picture then crop, but I found I can do the parkour I want to and get someone to hold down the button and take continuous pictures.
The only problem with this is I will have to get Max, or anyone else who can hold the button down, to be there and take the pictures of me in action. I'm unable to set the timer to take contiuous pictures

Drone Filming | Successful Filming with Max

Me and Max spent around 2-3 hours in Old Catton filming the drone shots, and taking pictures for my ancillary task. I decided to settle with just using the side pan shot with the drone, rather than the 3rd person view, this was mainly due to more and more people turning up in the park. Also, the tree we were shooting next to, was being climbed on by several kids and we couldn't fly the drone with them there. This was fine since the pan shot we filmed was good enough to include in my trailer.

Success/Failures
Drone filming was a big success, I managed to get a very smooth and well filmed tracking shot of me running with the tree in the background. Me and Max lowered the light exposure to make the shot darker, this was so that it would match the brightness of my other scenes.
Although the drone was fine, we did have a slight dent in timing, after a could shots Max crashed the drone and it wouldn't fly. I sorted this problem by simply turning it on and off, this only wasted around 10-15 minutes. Another problem was that after we had been filming for about an hour, more parents and children started walking around the park, and a lot of the kids were climbing the tree meaning we couldn't fly the drone due to safety issues. It would have been nice to see what a 3rd person view would have looked like.

Drone Filming with Max | Rescheduled

From my last post, my plan was to film in Old Catton on Friday 10th, but due to me coming down with a stomach bug Thursday, I was unable to film with Max that Friday. I arranged to film Tuesday 14th with Max via Facebook Messenger. We chose Tuesday because it had the best forecast for the days that Max was available to. Below is our quick clarification of filming

Music | Discussing with my brother

Once I have my footage filmed and a rough draft I will be going to talk to my brother, who is currently doing a music course, about him being able to make a track that will fit over my trailer. I will have to have a draft and have close input to what music he is making, since I need it to fit my film and he needs to know what timing and pace the music needs.

Drone Filming with Max

With filming the running scenes in Catton park, I won't be able to fly the drone while running, so I have en-listed the help of my friend Max. I will be directing Max on how to fly the drone, the different angles to do and what type of manoeuvres to use. The reason I'm using Max to film me is because to film myself would mean; I would have to be holding the drone controller which would be in the shot. So I am not unable to pull off filming myself, but it would be logical for someone else to instead
UPDATE: Me and Max has a quick discussion using the Facebook messaging app 'messenger' and organised to to the drone filming on Friday 10th February, since there will only be three different drone shots to do, we should be done with filming in a couple of hours.
With this trip to Catton Park I will also be using this as an opportunity to take pictures of Catton Park to use for one of my ancillary tasks

Two Poster Drafts

Silhouette of Man
When creating the final poster, I will be using my self as the silhouette, this will either be a picture I've edited before or a cut from a part in the film. For this picture I will edit myself to be running along the path, I haven't decided if it will be; away from the camera, towards the camera, or across the camera, but I will be running on the path rather than levitating across the scene.
Background
The background of both posters is a picture I copied from google images, but when creating the final poster, I will have my own pictures to use in the background. I will go to the same location in the picture, take three different pictures with me on the tree, then edit me going across the tree all into one.
